Caring for your child's anxiety is the top priority. CHLA researchers are helping parents and children by developing a treatment for anxiety. Mental health needs to be at the forefront of new development and we want to partner with you to help your child. Most adult anxiety disorders begin in childhood or adolescence. This condition can not only negatively affect school performance and relationships with friends and family but also affect the overall quality of life and well-being when these children become adults. Our work is designed to compare different ways of treating anxiety in children. There are effective treatments for this disorder, but the open question is which treatment to start with - therapy or medicine. Our team will be examining what to do if the treatment tried first isn't working well—whether to optimize the treatment already begun or to add the other treatment. Your child's mental health is our priority and these tests hopefully will allow both parents and children to benefit from these treatment options. |
